I went hands-on with Razer's new Pokemon Kanto starters collection

Razer confirms Pikachu is, in fact, a Kanto starter.

Razer has just announced a new Pokémon collection, and this time it’s available in the United States.

The two massive companies have worked together a few times in the past, with one collection featuring Pikachu, Eevee, and all the Eeveelutions.

But that collection was only available in New Zealand, leaving US customers in the dust in the process.

On Thursday, July 17, Razer revealed its latest Pokémon collaboration, and this time it’s available in the United States.

They didn’t forget Pikachu is a Kanto starter

When you think of the Gen 1 starter Pokémon, most people only think of the three main ones: Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. Luckily, Razer didn’t forget about the greatest Kanto game to exist - Pokémon Yellow.

That’s why this Kanto ‘First Partner’ set features all four starters for fans to enjoy.

But what comes with the set?

Razer Cobra - $59.99

First up is the Razer Cobra. It’s the wired version, but I feel like that’s going to be alright for most people looking to buy this set.

It features a yellow body with all four Kanto starters plastered all over the buttons of the mouse. The Cobra is smaller, so it’s great for little kids - or just simply grown-ups with a preference for smaller mice.

It sounds great, performs great, and is one of my favorite shapes Razer has released over the last few years, with the Viper being right behind it.

Razer Gigantus (medium) - $29.99

There’s not a lot to say about this one. With the fancy mouse, Razer has created a fancy mouse pad.

It features Pikachu’s face front and center, and has the rest of the Kanto starters plastered all over it just like the buttons on the Cobra. It’s a smaller pad, however, so desk mat fans might want to look elsewhere.

Razer BlackWidow V4 X - $169.99

With a fancy mouse and mousepad, it makes sense to have a matching keyboard. For this set, Razer has chosen the BlackWidow V4 X to feature the Kanto starter's design.

Alongside the faces of all four Pokémon under the keys, you’ll find a Pokémon space bar and PokeBall icons instead of the normal ALT buttons.

It’s a great option for anyone looking for a full-sized gaming keyboard, featuring programmable macro keys on the side via Razer Synapse.

Razer Kraken V4 X - $99.99

Just like the rest of the set, the Kraken V4 X headset features the same yellow and black colorway with the Pokémon’s faces on the side of the headband.

It’s a wired headset, but that’s going to be just fine for most people. My favorite part about it is the microphone, which slides in and out of the ear cup instead of having the more traditional detachable mic.

Perfect for any Pokémon fan

It’s wonderful that Razer has finally released a Pokémon-themed set in the US, and I’m glad fans can celebrate their favorite game franchise with high-quality gaming hardware.

Everything looks great, feels great, and performs great. Hopefully, this is a successful launch and maybe, just maybe, we’ll get more Pokémon products from Razer in the future.
